TOLBACHIK VOLCANO CAVE area is a very unique place, as the caves are the only ones of their kind, formed as a result of a volcanic eruption. We invite you to join us in our exclusive tour of Kamchatka, this time exploring the exciting environments of Kamchatka underground caves!
Travel period: July-September.
Tour type: Auto/trekking tour.
Duration: 9 days / 8 nights.
Tour group size: 8-16 people.
”…Kamchatka is rich with underground caves and tunnels, which is evidenced by frequent earthquakes as well as the soil which is rich with rare minerals.”
G.V. Steller. “Description of Kamchatka” 1755
“Everything that we saw, definitely surpassed even the wildest expectations. In places of now extinct lava flows, more than 20 caves of varying sizes and depths were formed: “Beautiful”, “Big”, “Hot” and “Cold” …
“Beautiful” cave ceiling is abundant with colourful stalactites of strange shapes, as well as stalagmites raising up to meet them just as colourful. Unusually beautiful – snow white, lemon-yellow, emerald green, orange.
It’s impossible to describe the sensations and the feelings. We were the first to visit this place, where no human foot stepped before us! What we saw was simply magnificent!
One of the caves was all covered with “snow” coat – white salt crystals. The shape and colour of another cave resembled melted chocolate – a result of clinker lava flowing through. The third cave was like a bear den, lava cooled down in shapes of bear fur tatters…
“Cold” cave impressed us with its size. Even with a lit flair we did not see it’s full size.
Two year on, the extinct lava river, still radiates warmth! You can cook a fish or fried bananas with chocolate on the edge of a crack in the lava flow!
Today, you can safely say that Kamchatka has become richer with spectacular tourist destinations, which require careful treatment and of course, further exploration.
Unimaginable beauty of these caves will reward any caring visitor with unforgettable impressions and memories”
