Bolshaya (above the mouth of the Plotnikova River) is the largest river in the southwest of the Kamchatka Peninsula. The river is very important as a great number of West Kamchatka salmons are coming there to spawn. Talking about the spawning kinds, there come more than 40 thousand Chinooks, 300 thousand — sockeye salmon, up to 20 million — pink salmon, more than 100 thousand individuals’ Coho salmon. Also there are many other species: the peregrine char, the grayling, the live mikizha and the kunja.

Abundance and variety of the fish make the river great for both sporting and amateur fishing.
