Avacha Bay is one of the most beautiful symbols of Kamchatka. It is a home base of the Russian Pacific fleet, as well as the main transport gateway to Kamchatka region, so-called «sea gates» to the peninsula. The Avacha Bay is one of the largest bays around the globe able to fit any ship in the world. Total area is 215 square kilometers. Avacha and Paratunka rivers are the main two flowing into the bay.
The widest point reaches up to 18km, the deepest is 28m.
Three cities with 80% population of the whole peninsula residents are located in the pool of Avacha bay. About 32 fish species inhabit the Avacha bay waters. Among them are all species of the Pacific Salmon, flounder, mackerel, bullhead, sea bass and halibut.
Numerous seabirds are found in the aquatic area. Their major rookeries are mainly located on freestanding stones by the entrance to the Bay. Another curious animals living in Avacha bay are seals. They are quite friendly and let the tourists come very close.
Boarding the vessel. The cruise commences with exploring the Stanitskiy cape, Three Brothers rocks, Devil’s finger rocks and Zavoyko Island.
During our sea trip you will see so-called “Stone zoo”: three distinctive cliffs in a shape of an elephant, a turtle and a hippo. Besides, there is a rather famous rock called Babushkin Kamen (meaning Grandmother’s stone). It resembles a face of an old woman with a shawl tied around her head. Visiting Starichkov Island. Observing marine mammals and bird colonies. Fishing. (approx. 40 minutes). Gear is provided to all participants. You will taste a sea-urchin roe and a crab caught by a diver. Lunch is included. Returning to the port.
